Friday. Heavy rain all day.

12:05 p.m. dad stayed home today. He has some business to take care of regarding mom. So we had lunch together at the downstairs BBQ store. Some nice sizzling sausages with a can of cold beer while it pours during a tropical rain is a good day off.

7:00 p.m. It’s still pouring down rain. Street flooding is appearing at spots in the city and car alarms triggered by heavy thunder are sounding throughout the evening.

8:10 p.m. I’m at a $100NT steak house picking up a take away for my wife. It was too irresistible to pass by in the cold downpour. The red sign and glowing lights made it all too tempting. And the aroma is delightful. A steak with spaghetti, onions and a few vegetables plus a bowl of corn soup all for $100NT. Not bad. Not bad at all.

8:30 pm. Alexander is now sleeping soundly in his warm cosy bed. Lightning, sometimes as bright as the day flashes outside the windows. Followed by clashes and rumbles of thunder. It’s been quite a wild weather day. I hope it has passed by tomorrow as I have a private class in Tainan with my student Mia.

In the meantime as I head to Tainan tomorrow Dad, Chia and Alexander are going south to the southern tip of Taiwan to visit dad’s family. Alexander’s paternal grandfather and grandmother. ‘Still alive and kicking’ as someone once said to me. Can’t remember who though.

9:00 p.m. As the rumbles and flashes continue outside I think it’s time to call it an early night. I’m done. Dream time.
