Sunday.

8:30 a.m. Alexander was a bit grumpy this morning. I was sensing he wanted to get out of the house so I put him in his stroller and we went for a walk. He fell asleep in the stroller after about 5 minutes. So I walked to a local breakfast bar and got myself a chicken burger with cheese and egg plus a cold milk tea. Total cost $65. Healthier and cheaper than McDonald’s.

9:00 a.m. This morning the weather is quite warm but cloudy. The weather forecast said there might be storms this afternoon as a tropical storm is heading towards Taiwan from the Philippines. Quite typical for this time of year. So we should enjoy the sunny morning while it lasts.

So we went for a stroll around the tree-lined streets of the neighbour hood. One of the things that attracted me to live in Kaohsiung city was the abundance of parks and spacious tree lined streets. It is a stark contrast to my former residence of Taipei city in the north which a russian film director that I met said Taipei reminds him of the former soviet union in the 1980s! Grey, crowded, treeless and run down looking buildings. Kaohsiung should be Taiwan’s capital. It is certainly more worthy to represent the beauty of Taiwan. perhaps one day it will be. You never know.

12:00 p.m. Talked with mum and dad on Skype for about an hour and a half.

3:00 p.m. Took Alexander for a haircut. It’s getting a bit long now. But he didn’t want one and we had a bit of trouble trying to keep him still so the hairstylist could cut it properly. The main.issue was the drop cloth. He didnt like it around him and kept ripping it off. Eventually we cut.his hair without the cloth and he had to put up with hair falling all over his skin. In the end he was itching like a monkey. We were permitted to give him a bath in the back area to wash off all the irritating hair. He was happy after that.

7:00 p.m. Was doing a bit of window shopping in the evening at the local mall. I spotted a pair of cheap 3D VR glasses. I tried them out with my phone and they worked well, considering they were on the cheap side. So I bought a pair.

8:00 pm. Watched a science fiction film called “Guardians of the Galaxy” with my new 3D VR headset. Very enjoyable.

10:30 p.m. Early night tonight, got work in the morning.

Final Note: On this day in the morning on Tuesday of September 11 2001 I was watching a breaking news story on CNN in our family living room in Australia about a shocking surreal event. A series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the United States was unfolding. The attacks killed 2,996 people and injured over 6,000 others and caused at least $10 billion in property and infrastructure damage and $3 trillion in total costs. May those souls rest in peace.
