330 a.m. We are at the pediatric E.R. in Kaohsiung University Hospital. Rushed here in a taxi after Alexander broke out in constant shaking at around 3 a.m.
He has just had chest x-rays and been given a large dosage of oral fever medicine.
The daycare center was ordered closed yesterday afternoon for a week due to an outbreak of a fever related illness that affected 3 children. We immediately pulled Alexander out of daycare yesterday when we heard about it. So this morning we were worried Alexander had probably picked it up. But it doesn’t seem to be the same. Perhaps a very bad strain of flu.
1215 p.m. I have stayed home today to take care of Alexander. I think dad will do it tomorrow and Chia on Thursday. Alexander’s mood is much better now that early this morning. But still has cough and not so energetic. He almost finished his milk feed and he ate some scrambled eggs with me for breakfast. So he’s doing okay.
3:30 p.m. After refusing to sleep during his normal lunchtime nap time Alexander finally fell asleep next to me at 3:30p.m. Have a good rest little man.
530 p.m. Alexander woke with a high temperature again. How annoying. 39.2°c. Gave him some ‘baby panadol’ and it got him back down to average in about 30 to 40 minutes.
7:00 p.m. Chia got home ans decided to bath Alexander. I was hesitant at bathing him today. Wasn’t sure if it was a good idea or not with his condition and the lower air temperature. I was worried he’d get a chill and make matters worse. But she wanted jim fresh, so I couldn’t say much.
8:30 p.m. Alexander was asleep. And all the rest of us will be too soon.
