March 21st, 2017 | E.D.G.A.R

Meet E.D.G.A.R. My three eyed, three wheeled rover robot.

8:00 a.m. The usual morning routine. Up at 7a.m. Feed Alexander his 350 cc milk. Made myself some milk tea and toast and then faced an unexpected crying little boy. So tried to work out what was wrong. Couldn’t. Chia came in and tried talking to him with no result either and left the room in a huff. So I said “Alexander, I’m  done. Going to watch TV.” He stopped crying and followed me out of the bedroom, strode past me in the hallway and dashed to the TV. Pressed the on button and watched it crackle to life. It’s an old TV, not modern LED screen. So it crackles. Anyhow, there it is. He just wanted to go out of tge room and turn on the TV.

9:00 a.m. After putting Alex into daycare I went to get some parts from the local electronics store.

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Spent two hours on finalizing and testing the last two circuits I will use on my rover robot. Today E.D.G.A.R was completed. Just a matter of fine tuning and adjusting some cables and components, so it doesn’t look like a plate of colored spaghetti on wheels! I named it Edgar which is an acronym for: Electric Dreams General Autonomous Robot.

After a few adjustments and Iam satisfed with its overall appearance and operation I will start creating a DIY manual so I can sell Edgar in Kit form to people who want to build a real robot without needing any knowledge of robotics or electronics. A beginners robot that is pretty cool. HA!

5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Younger learners class in Tainan.

8:00 p.m. Arrived back home in time to say goodnight to Alex.

9:00 pm to 11:30p.m. Returned to working on Edgar. By the nights end Edgar was able to ‘see’ its surroundings with three infared sensors, a light sensor and an audio sensor. It can also be taken control of (if it goes a bit too crazy) with a TV remote control. However other than that Edgar can rove about the home completely autonomously. Nice.
